Huge crowds enjoy Greenway for a Day!
Over 500 people voted on Sunday last - for a Greenway for Sligo! The virtual Greenway route near Lavagh in South Sligo showcased the benefits of a traffic free walk and cycle way as a community amenity and tourist attraction.
The stunning backdrop of Knocknashee at Carrowmore provided the perfect setting for all who participated in the event. Weather that was slightly inclement proved no obstacle to the huge crowds that that came to show their support for the proposal.
Peadar Conway of Sligo Greenway Co-op said, “As organisers we were bowled over the response to this idea – a greenway for a day! So many people, and all of them so excited by the prospects of having a greenway of our own here in Co. Sligo. We will be repeating this event in others areas in the coming weeks and months.”
